The BS-12 sensor is a dual-technology volumetric detector, comprised of a dual-element infrared sensor and of a planar microwave sensor with pulse emissions. The two sensors are controlled by a microprocessor that optimises their performances. The operating modes can be set via a dipswitch, while the sensitivity is adjusted on a linear basis with two trimmers: one for the infrared section and the other for the microwave section. Moreover, the infrared section is equipped with automatic temperature compensation, which enables adjustment of the detection sensitivity to different environmental conditions. The bright LED, with which the sensor is equipped, can play several roles: “masked” alarm memory with the display of the alarm triggered upon deactivation of the system, IR section test, MW section test, IR+MW section test. When the system is deactivated, the microwave is switched off, so as not to radiate through the protected area for no purpose. The BS12 offers protection against spray paint sabotage of the infrared section lens. This protection involves generating an alarm cycle when a certain number of detections are made by the microwave sensor, without any detections being made by the infrared section. The device can operate in “AND” or “OR” mode. In “AND” mode, the alarm is triggered when both sensors detect an intrusion, while in “OR” mode the alarm is triggered when just one of the sensors detects an intrusion. The BS12 is particularly suitable for protecting civilian environments. Its maximum detection range reaches up to 12 m.
